The World's Ugliest TWH
I give you The World's Ugliest TWH (actually, since I hung that moniker on him I have seen much, much uglier TWHs, which is really rather unfortunate and sad). To his credit, he does have a very nice...

I actually don't think he's that badly put together. His front end is lovely, nice neck/shoulder connection. His head is huge and he's camped out but I'm assuming those are just TWH traits. His hip is...

Do you have a front shot of him at all? He doesn't look all that slab sided from the pictures but yes, his hind endreally sucks. I thought camped out is a trait of the TWH? If so I guess i wouldn't...

Being camped out is a common fault of TWH. That doesn't make it a breed trait. It's still a fault. It's a fault in any horse. You just expect to see it a lot in gated breeds. Probably because they are...

I don't think he is all that camped out behind. I have seen far worse. He is also one of my favs of Pony's. Him and that one Appy you have. But then again I own Moose so I have a soft spot for the...

He's OK for what I do with him. Which is trail ride him occasionally. I doubt he'd stay sound long for real work, which is one reason why I just dink around on him. He's a good trail horse, pretty...

I had a TWH for awhile that was terrified of everything that moved on the ground, but under saddle he was fearless.

Yeah, Galen's a nervous Nellie on the ground. An artifact of crazy people that trained him to be that way. He's fine if the person handling him knows what they are doing and pays attention.

Poor Galen does NOT have a "mountain-scaling" hip. All those mountains in the background...he's made to be an arena superstar! He does have a nice neck though, I would call it his best feature.

His front end isn't bad. The back end sure doesn't belong with the front end.

I've a Cleveland bay cross that has a bit of a look of him. Shiny and a nice big head and kind expression. Was he designed by a committee?

^These days most walkers are. I've got a couple here that are remarkably similar. I don't know the breeding on one but I do on the other. They're both great examples of breeding for gait alone.
View ArticleRe: The World's Ugliest TWH
Yeah, he's a gaiting fool. I think that's all he was bred for. His papers and he parted ways before he came my way. I have no idea what his breeding is, but I suspect he was bred by someone that knew...

This horse's haunch isn't nearly as bad as most are letting on. Indeed, he's got some great qualities. What affects haunch strength are, in no particular order; poorly placed LS joint, long loin, lack...

^ I will agree with that. Has the horse had chiro work? I do think he would look a lot better with it, probably use himself better, and be more comfortable.
View ArticleRe: The World's Ugliest TWH
I would'nt kick him out of my field, especially if he has that classic running walk. For me, if a TWH gaits good, and won't be unsound because of conformation then they are good to go.
